Question:

What year was coca cola invented How old is coka cola?

Answers:
In May, 1886, Coca Cola was invented by Doctor John Pemberton a pharmacist from Atlanta, Georgia.

Until 1905, the soft drink, marketed as a tonic, contained extracts of cocaine as well as the caffeine-rich kola nut.

By the late 1890s, Coca Cola was one of America's most popular fountain drinks.

Back in the day

like the 1940s?

like way back in 1889 or something and the original formula had a tiny bit of cocaine in it

1886
121 years old

The official year as given by the Coca-Cola Company as well as many published sources is 1886. The "birthdate" is May 8, 1886 when the drink called "Coca-Cola" was "first sold" at Jacob's Pharmacy in Atlanta, Georgia.

However, the formulation of Coca-Cola was derived from another product its inventor Atlanta Pharmacist Pemberton created. Pemberton had concocted in 1884 a coca wine based on a popular coca wine called Vin Mariani, which he first called French Wine Coca.

In 1885 when Fulton County in Georgia passed prohibition legislature, he quickly modified the formula to remove the alcohol and added extracts of kola nut. He had marketed this modified drink as "Esteemed Brain Tonic and Intellectual Beverage."

It was Pemberton's bookkeeper Robinson who came up with the name Coca-Cola later which combined the coca from coca leaves and Cola which he derived from kola nut.
