Question for Brits re: tea (and the proper way to drink it) (details)?

Is there a proper or "correct" way to drink tea? I'm an American, but grew up drinking tea nearly every morning with my breakfast. My great grandmother always made it with a little milk and sugar. Don't know what kind of tea--nothing flavored--just plain tea. My husband swears that all English people drink Earl Grey tea, and he hates milk in his. He drinks his with lemon--no milk or sugar. A co-worker of mine's mom is British (she's an American citizen now) and she says that the whole Earl Grey phenomenon was started by that guy who played Capt. Picard on Star Trek--because he drank it, everyone assumed all British people drink it.

Any help? Is there a standard way to drink tea, and what are the most common types/flavors of tea you drink? Do you guys use tea bags or loose tea and a tea ball? Sorry if these questions sound goofy--this is just something I've always wanted to know. :)

Answers:
Good strong Indian tea....not Earl Grey particularly, preferably loose tea. One spoon of loose tea per person and one more for the pot! Let it brew for 5 minutes, then pour. Add a little milk and sugar if you like. PG Tip teabags are popular too.

we just drink tea from a normal tea bag earl grey is still for sale in shops but we mostly drink PG tips or Tetley , and yes you have to have milk in it, it does not matter wether you have sugar it depends on the person but an average english person has atleast 5 cups of tea a day hope this helps if you want more info just ask x
