Just make your favor dish and you know that recipe that is good or you can always look up recipe on line...
Lamb or chicken or steak or fish.. It just dinner at your house. So it should be relaxing and have wine.. Most people like wines. And there no mistake or either white or red wine.. or you can if cook pasta with wine. (hehe) with seafood. But you should cook what you best at..and you need to see if he or she bring friend or family. or kids... Or you can ask what your boss like.

it depends on how well he treats you. If he treats you like a dog, then dog food it is.

Bosses are human like everyone else . . .
Could be a beef and potatoes person with cocktails,
Could be a vegetarian that drinks merlot . . .
We do not know your boss, you do , and since you made the invite , you would be wise to find out their food issues . . .
Esp since some people are gluten intolerant , some are diabetic and many other issues.
FIRST > you ask your boss if there are any food issues then work from there.

I wouldn’t make a menu just have dishes out in the middle of the table and have everyone pass stuff around and serve themselves. Things I would probably make are:
Pot roast cooked w/ carrots, rice, corn, roasted onion potatoes, salad, dinner rolls (or cut French bread). For dessert I would offer coffee and tea with a store bought cake or pie (whichever looks better at the supermarket).
Also don’t forget the appetizers you can buy box of mixed frozen appetizers that you just warm up in the oven. Maybe even have a bowl of nuts or chips and dip out.

Oh yeah don’t forget the bottle of red wine.
