How bad are energy drinks for you?!

Question:

How bad are energy drinks for you?

and why are they bad?

Answers:
all that caffine and all the sugar..... first you can't sleep and then your teeth rot. Better to drink water or skim milk.

Energy drinks contain certain minerals and salts. although they help quench your thirst, they could cause serious problems in certain events, like marathons where your body needs extra energy and water! In other words, they interfere with a biological process called Osmosis- the way water is absorbed by cells in your body. There are two really important minerals involved in water balance in your body. Sodium and Potassium play a major role in this chemical balance. For instance, if you have too much salt, it causes water to be extracted from your cells (like too much energy drinking); whereas, too much Potassium (like in bananas and water pills), cause the reverse feeling of being too bloated or "water logged". This being said, it may be more logical to give marathon runners a banana drink to help replenish lost water in the form of sweat and use energy drinks when you feel water logged.
