How to make a caramel macchiato?
I don't know if I spelled that right....
Anyways, Starbucks has these, is there something I can buy out there that would be close? (Homemade)

Used to work at Starbucks....The recipe I remember is:
for a 16 oz coffee,
1- A generous amount of vanilla syrup in the bottom of cup (maybe 4 pumps for a drink this size)
2- 2 shots of espresso (add this right on top of the carmel to help melt it)
3- Fill the rest of the cup with steamed milk, almost to the top
4- Top the drink with foam
5- Drizzle carmel on the foam in a criss cross pattern (too much in one spot will make it fall through the foam). Most people like more carmel in theirs.
A real, bonafide, coffee nerd will tell you that "macchiato" means "marked". So the whole key to a macchiato is to pour the shot of espresso through the foam. (step 2 would be after step four) I think that this is totally unimportant. I think it is more important to get the carmel to melt with the hot espresso. Try it both ways and see if you can even tell the difference.
I don't think that you can get a mix or prepared beverage from a store that will taste anything like a drink from an espresso machine. If you found an espresso stand (other than Starbucks) that has real carmel, they could make the drink. And probably for less money.

well, that's my favorite drink too! i've tried to make 'em a few times...and this is what i've come up with. just make some normal coffee and add lots of milk. and i just went out and bough t some caramel syrup that goes on ice cream (not the stuff you microwave). i like mine iced, so i put it over ice.
This is a little recipe that i use ... every now and then because caramel macchiato's are my favorite at starbucks!
Ingredients:
? HOME MADE VANILLA SYRUP
? 2 c. water
? 1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
? 3/4 tsp. vanilla extract
?(^^^^ you could just buy it.. thats what i did)
? MACCHIATO
? 2 tbs. vanilla syrup*
? 1/2 c. fresh espresso 8 oz. milk, steamed and foamy
? 3-4 tbs. caramel sauce**
Method:
1. VANILLA SYRUP Combine water and sugar in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes then add vanilla extract. Remove from heat and cool. (Store in covered container) 2. MACCHIATO Add 2 tbs. vanilla syrup to a 16 oz. glass. Add fresh brewed espresso, followed by steamed milk. Add caramel sauce to coffee and stir. If desired, add a dollop of extra foam to drink and lightly drizzle caramel on top.
