Question:

Real scoop on green tea?

whats the real deal with green teas, are all equally good for us, if not, which kinds should i look for. and what all conditions they supposedly help with.

Answers:
Some of the conditions green tea reportedly helps with include:
* cancer
* high cholesterol levels
* cardiovascular disease
* impaired immune function
* rheumatoid arthritis
* infection

Research studies have shown epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a compound in green tea, is a powerful anti-oxidant. There is a strong link between this compound and a decrease in cancer cell growth. It is also shown to improve HDL/LDL cholesterol ratios.

Because it inhibits production of abnormal blood clots, It probably decreases your chance of developing a heart attack or stroke.

Green, oolong, and black teas all come from the leaves of the same plant: Camellia sinensis. What's different about green tea is the way it is processed. While black and oolong tea leaves are made from fermented leaves, this results in the EGCG being oxidized, and produces compounds that are not nearly as effective in preventing and fighting various diseases. Green tea leaves are steamed, which prevents oxidation.

Evidence is gaining that green tea also can help you lose weight, but only by drinking the caffeinated version. I prefer decaf. If you have insomnia, you should stick with decaf, too.

I have been drinking green tea for several years--it's become by favorite beverage, and I have a tall glass of iced green tea sweetened with stevia with me at all times. Yes, even right now!

Here is an article on green tea that I found interesting.

you should get loose leaf instead of teabags or instant green tea. loose leaf is proven to have more benefits. The USDA study shows that an original brew is the healthiest.

they are very good for ones health..

i would suggest you to try teacuppa green teas like long jing, bi luo chun or gunpowder tea. if you are new to tea i would suggest pearl jasmine.

I think any green tea is healthier than most any other drinks. If you drink soda or coffee, tea is definitely a better alternative, whether it be green, black, white or oolong. Just know that these are the true teas which come from a specific plant (camelia sinensis). Start with a box of Celestial Seasonings like Authentic Green Tea, and then try a flavored green tea. Then expand if you want. Tea is wonderful thing I just recently got into.

All other teas are herbal teas.

The conditions tea helps with have been identified, but I'll just note that tea should be drank for it's overall health benefits and helps in overall well being.
