What makes the mento experiment work and why?!

Question:

What makes the mento experiment work and why?

the soda(diet coke)the mentos

Answers:
What makes it work, is that diet coke is more acidic (not to unhealthy levels) that it rips off the outer coating of the mentos, and when the two substances mix, as you have probably already seen a very intense reaction occurs.

on myth busters on the dicovery channel they did that one and the only scientific answer is the nooks and crannys of the surface of the candy causes the rapid disolving and the eruption so ots the roughness of the mints

the chemicals react!!!
have a nice day!!!
