Why does coffee help with your bowels?!

Question:

Why does coffee help with your bowels?

Answers:
as other answerers have said, it's a stimulant and a diuretic. so as a diuretic, it draws the water into your bowels and makes your solid waste move easier, thus resulting in a bowel movement. also the stimulating factor makes it twice as powerful because everything happens quickly with an extra kick

coffee makes me really really farty and gassy .

It speeds up your metabolism and that includes your bowels. It is a diuretic also and that makes you urinate.

G'day csiders30,

Thank you for your question.

It doesn't always. People with irritable bowel syndrome should avoid coffee.

I dont know but by second cup im ready to go chit in morning ...kinda like a habit drink 2 cups go chit ..maybe its in your DNA ??

It's the mystic effect of caffeine. Caffeine is a drug. This particular drug is a stimulant. It is also a diuretic (makes you pee) and a mild colonic (causes bowels to move.)

Caffeine is constipating. I know it makes you feel like moving your bowels when you drink coffee, because it is warm and it can trick your body into feeling like eliminating. But, if you are constipated it will have the opposite effect.

I beleive that the caffeine can cause your lower colon to go spastic in a way, thus ....surprise!

sorry i have no clue
