Why are energy drinks so popular?

I think people don't sleep enough hours, and they are looking for the pick me up, just like adults that drink coffee for the caffeine to get them going.
The taste is fine!
Personally, I think they are a big waste of money. Just have a cup of coffee, orange juice, and a healthy breakfast in the morning, and you will be just fine.
because people are addicted to them just like they get addicted to anything else. the drugs in "energy" drinks gives a buzz, and people who can't handle being clean and sober and get too bored with being themselves, say they need the drinks to stay awake or give them a boost.

They're all loaded with caffeine (Red Bull has around 80 mg some have even more). Caffeine like many plant alkaloids stimulates the central nervous system. Yum! And, like other plant alkaloids such as caffeine, nicotine, and morphine; caffeine is highly addictive.

That's a good question. People are just naive, I think.
Don't understand why they are so popular. I certainly would rather have a candy bar!! I think there is a lot of "hype" about them with tv commercials showing athletes drinking, etc. It is just another fad or trend which will soon pass and be replaced by another.

it's just a great big fad. All the advertising has a large role. And also, young people see celebrities sporting cans od Red Bull and just cant resist.
I like how alot of people give out the "hey saw it on TV" thing.
I am a teenager and I drink Monster, especially Monster: Khaos because it has a very hard sweet taste I can't find anywhere else and it gives me that little buzz of energy that helps me go to sleep at night after I burn off the energy.
Life isn't sunday church so if you are gonna be addicted to something I think it's better to be a Energy drinkoholic instead of a heavy smoker or a heavy drinker...
