Whats the advantages of drinking Green tea comparing to regular tea?
Answers:
Popular opinion says that green tea is better because it is not oxidised and so contains more antioxidants. Well, it is a myth, as the extract below explains:
Green tea myth
Green tea is associated with more health benefits than black tea. But studies suggest that green tea does not necessarily offer more antioxidant protection.
Studies carried out by Leung and Luczaj found that oxidisation merely modifies the type of flavonoids present. The antioxidant content and activities remain unchanged for both teas.
In the victro study conducted by Paquay, black tea fights certain free radicals, oxygen and nitrogen better than green tea. Another study conducted by Sarkar found that green tea and black tea were equally able to protect against nitric oxide toxicity.
Scientists still do not understand why similar health benefits were not observed in black tea drinkers.
Which type of tea is healthier is still largely a matter of personal taste.
Discussion
This is what I think really matters:
1. the quality of tea - loose leaf better than teabags, original better than decaf, flavored, instant (see second link).
2. how you drink it. some say milk is bad and explains why health benefits are not observed in black tea drinkers.
Green tea has one advantage over other tea. High grade is harvested using very young leaves and they contain much less pollutants than more mature leaves.

More antioxidants because it's less processed ..but it doesn't taste quite as good as black tea .
I think drinking both are advantageous. I've read that green tea has more anti oxidants than black tea and thus, is better to drink for you than black tea, but I'm sure the amount is marginal. I mean, it's probably not that much more. That's just my opinion. It's probably hard to gauge because there are many different green teas and many different black teas.
As someone said, green tea is less oxidized, meaning it's less processed, giving it that woody subtle flavor. Lots of people dislike this and stick to black tea. Another tea even less oxidized than green tea is white tea which you might want to try. It's a totally different flavor which you might like. I've read this white tea has the most anti oxidants that green or black. all in all, I think drinking any kind of tea is better than drinking coffee or soda, in a nutritional sense. Good luck.

Dr. Nicholas Perricone , an anti-aging specialist, appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show and told Oprah's viewers they can lose 6 lbs. in 10 weeks drinking green tea instead of coffee . However, the maximum calorie density of stored fat is 3500 calories in a pound thus 75 extra burned calories per day requires 40 weeks to lose 6 lbs. The weight lost might also been due to replacing a high caloric drink such as coffee with a lower caloric drink such as green tea. The difference might be a few hundred calories per drink if the coffee contained other substances, such as sugar and dairy creamer.
# There are also negative effects from drinking too much tea, such as the excessive amount of caffeine in green tea. Side effects from the caffeine include nausea, insomnia and frequent urination.
