Long Macchiato Census?

It seems there is no set recipe for the long macchiato, is the recipe to each cafe to set for themselves or is there a traditional way to it that most ignore, and if so what is it? or what is your favourite way if there is no set recipe?

My favourite is caramel macchiato.This drink is made by combining vanilla flavored syrup with steamed milk and then pouring the espresso on top of the milk, then topping it all off with caramel sauce. :

They all taste the same to me. Too good!!! They have more fat than a milk shake!!!
