White tea mold?!

Question:

White tea mold?

I have had an air-tight container of White Tea for quite some time. I recently opened the container to make some tea, and observed yellow, fuzzy stuff in the container and all over the tea. It does not look like mold, but I can't imagine what else it would be. This happened to my mom with white tea as well, and she didn't have hers for very long. Anyone know what it is?

Answers:
it's hard to believe that mold would grow in a container that is air tight and totally dry inside. I bought some loose leaf white tea recently and when I used a plastic measuring spoon to make some, I noticed the bottom of the spoon had some fuzzies sticking to it. Obviously from static cling.. I didn't think it was mold though.

Try making a cup of it in nearly boiling water, and see how it tastes, if you are comfortable doing that. If not, it's not worth worrying about getting sick. good luck.

my white tea never did that. i wouldn't drink it

i learned about tea a little. you have to keep tea in a dark place where sunlight cant go in and it has to be kept dry
