Why is it that they cover up labels on name brand cans on the food network?!

Question:

Why is it that they cover up labels on name brand cans on the food network?

Answers:
They don't on all shows, just the shows that don't bother to contact the food companies to say they are going to be showing their products on TV and demand an advertising fee. "Barefoot Contessa" doesn't cover up her labels. "Semi-Homemade" used to cover up EVERYTHING, but not so much anymore.

I believe it is because the companies of the food that is being covered up has not paid for that show to endorse their product, and in order for the show to endorse it, the producers want to be compensated for it. Therefore, they cover the labels so they are not advertising for free.

They don't want to advertise for this company for free...?

because its considered advertisement....and shows like that don't mention names or show labels unless that company paid for it. Its their way of making money
