Pop, Soda, Fizz, etc? How did it get the name pop?!

Question:

Pop, Soda, Fizz, etc? How did it get the name pop?

Answers:
I live in a pop state, Minnesota. And from what I've heard it started because of the popping sound a glass bottle makes when you open it.

from Sodapop I think

Some people took half of the word to use, others chose the second half.

It's weird because all my relatives call it pop and I kind of do a double take when they say it.

From the sound of the tiny bubbles bursting.

From the sound when you opened it.

From the sound the cork made when removed from a sarsaparilla bottle, that was the first thing that resembled modern day soda.

The Noise You Get From Oppening It!

I would think from the carbination popping

I guess it's from carbonation shooting out of the bottles after the soda has been shaken and the lid pops off.
