Does drinking tea prevent cancer - specially green tea ?!

Question:

Does drinking tea prevent cancer - specially green tea ?

Answers:
There is some evidence that tea, and especially green tea, reduces cancer risk. But FDA has rejected the evidence to date, they say more human trials are needed.

There is a strong case for green tea anti cancer properties, as shown in the extract from the first link below:

One of the most powerful in nature, green tea antioxidants have been found to be over 100 times more effective in neutralizing free radicals than vitamin C, and 25 times more powerful than vitamin E.
Green tea catechin such as EGCG reduces cellular damage that could lead to cancer.

Unlike other anti-cancer drugs such as Vioxx and Celebrex, studies suggest that EGCG destroys cancer cells without harming the surrounding healthy cells. Future green tea drugs may cure cancer without the side effects.

It has antioxidants and possibly vitamin C, so yes.

It doesn't necessarily "prevent" cancer, but it can reduce your risk of developing cancer. Drink up!

I learned, the hard way, that tea contributes to the formation of the most common (75%) type of kidney stones (calcium-oxalate).

Pity, too. I used to drink it by the gallon.

An American study showed people who followed low-carbohydrate, high protein diets were more likely to suffer kidney stones. People who eat large amounts of foods which increase oxolate excretion could also be at increased risk. Such foods include spinach, silverbeet, rhubarb, parsley, chives, chocolate, cocoa, wheat bran, brown rice, tea, walnuts, hazelnuts, peanuts and almonds.

First you have to ask, "what is cancer?"
Cancerous growths are (for the most part) a result of the failure of the body's immune system to adequately deal with mutated cells. See, potential cancer cells develop in your body all the time. A healthy immune system just know how to eliminate them. Don't take my word for it, look it up!

Can tea fight cancer?
Certain teas CAN (a) strengthen your immune system, and can (b) assit your body in eliminating the cancerous growth. You would do best to research teas yourself, and talk to herbal/homeopathic experts. Here's what i do: the tea I take regularly is essiac tea, which I suggest you look into.

yes it can. green tas has antioxidants in them
