Starbucks actually is one of the few places that you can get health benefits only working part time. Even though the pay is low, that's a definite perk if you need benefits. Most places require 35-40 hours a week to qualify. They only require like 20 hours or so.

I can't think of one

1. They burn their beans ... on purpose!
2. They are expensive
3. They don't support Fair Trade which exploites workers.

Do not make Starbucks a career move. It is a job a monkey could do. It is a part time job for children in college.

Free drinks and free coffee is not enough for me to make a career change and their jobs are only part time unless you are management.

"Yes its true and in some Starbucks stores they hook you up with a pound of bud, on occasion".

I also have heard that they get a pound of free coffee a week. However, the free drinks on breaks is news to me. Let's go to work for Starbucks!!
P.S. In response to TOM:
1. It is called Dark roasting, not burning.
2. If you just try it you will understand the price.
3. They do support fair trade, in fact some of their coffees are even fair trade certified.

i am sure you can have all the coffee you want to drink while your there,,, but it is very busy

A job in a coffee shop is a good starter job. If you can, try to find something that is related to your career interest- if you like science, try to get a job in a science museum or a hospital, if you like engineering, in an engineering company. However, life doesn't always work like that.
From what I've heard, Starbucks treats their employees in a fair manner, and the managers usually do not have temper tantrums. I have not heard anything about the free drinks.

FYI: I hate the taste of their coffee, and I never get it because it's ridiculously expensive, but Starbucks is proud of their fair trade practices, and almost all of their coffee products are fair trade certified

just buy Starbuck products all the time i have stock in the company

Yes they are true, and yes there is more.

Read more at the links listed as sources below.

Free drinks: 1/2 hour before your shift, during your shift and 1/2 hour after your shift.
Beans: one free pound each week, or pick a box of tea or espresso pods.
Health benefits after 90 days: medical, vision, dental, short term disability.
SIP: purchase Starbucks stock at a discount.
There are a ton more. To receive the free drinks and beans you only are required to be actively employed. It doesn't matter if you work 5 hours/wk or 40 hours/wk, you receive those benefits. To be eligible for healthcare, you have to work an average of 20 hours/wk.
Starbucks is a great company to work for, especially for someone your age. It is hard but it's fun and you'll meet great people.
