German research shows that non-alcoholic beer may deliver some of the same heart benefits as moderate consumption of regular beer, minus the risks that come with alcohol use."Consumption of dealcoholized beer could provide cardiovascular benefit without the negative effects of alcohol," said Steffen Bassus, M.D., Ph.D., at the Deutsche Klinik fur Diagnostik in Wiesbaden, Germany.

The study involved 12 healthy young men who abstained from alcohol for one week. They were then given either a liter of beer, non-alcoholic beer, or a solution of alcohol in water to drink each hour for a three-hour period.
While the research showed that participants who drank the alcoholic drinks had a decrease in blood components involved in forming clots, the non-alcoholic beer drinkers experienced these and other benefits: the no-alcohol beer also decreased an extra blood-clotting substance. The regular beer and alcohol mixture had the opposite effect, increasing levels of this clotting agent.

The study's findings are published in the May 2004 issue of Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research.

The benefit is you can enjoy the taste of regular beer but still drive your friends home after!

not sure....same thing as decaf coffee i guess.

on another note, i saw a funny episode on a show on NBC called "freaks and geeks" about how everyone at a high school thought they were drinking real beer, but it was non alcoholic but they didn't know so they all thought they were drunk.... check it out! (if you care to look it up etc.)
