Which would you say is better for you: Coke or Diet Coke?!

Question:

Which would you say is better for you: Coke or Diet Coke?

Obviously if nobody drank any soda pop ever it would be ideal, as it really offers no nutritional value whatsoever, but which do you feel is the healthier choice?

On one hand, Coke has lots of sugar and many more calories, but Coke has aspartame, which many believe to be really bad for you.

I'm not asking which you think TASTES better, just which is "healthier" (and, again, I use the term "healthy" loosely here!).

oops...that should read "DIET Coke has aspartame." My bad.

Spare me the "it's deadly" or "it's going to kill you" answers. I hardly ever drink either myself. It's just a poll question. Everybody KNOWS both are bad for you. I've even said as much in the body of the question.

I'll go with Diet Coke also.

Regular coke is sooo bad for you. Actually any non-diet soda is. My mom always called it "sugar water". Soda is one of the leading causes of obesity in toddlers. Obesity leads to diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and many other horrible diseases.

On the other hand, Diet Coke (which I love the taste of anyway), you don't have the empty calories or the sugar content. You do have aspartame which studies show has caused cancer in lab rats (or something along those lines). I believe (I'm not a doctor or scientist), that in order to actually get cancer from aspartame, you would basically have to drink a case of the diet-soda every day.

Even better than Coke or Diet Coke is Diet Coke with Splenda. Now, I actually like diet coke, but my fiance hates the taste of diet coke. We do not allow regular soda in our house EVER. I digress, he found that the taste of the diet coke with splenda is very similar to that of regular Coke with the same benefit (if you want to call it that).

The correct thing would be water of course, but it's really hard to only drink water. Believe me, I'm a caffeine junkie. Many trips to Starbucks each day for Nickie.

So, to answer you question---Diet Coke is better than Coke.

Don't even get me started on fruit juice---The Sugar Devil's nectar.

I gave up all soda. There is no answer to your question. Drink Water.

probably diet coke. hence the word "diet"

Diet

Mountain Dew

i would have to say diet Coke. I agree, that's its not great to drink large amounts everyday bacause it contains aspartame, but like everything else, in moderation it should be fine. But regular Coke, of course, tastes better to some, even though it is a cause of obesity. And it rots your teeth. Remember this, kids!

If you are 100 pounds overweight, diet is better for you.

If you are training for a marathon, Coke is better for you.

I'd say Diet Coke, though it doesn't taste as good as coke it is still healtier.

I think it depends... you are correct, both aren't great for you. If I've had what seems to be a lot of sugar that day, I will go for Diet Coke. Yet if I need a little bit of sugar or I haven't had too much already that day, I'll go ahead and grab the regular Coke. Both are bad for you if you consume an excessive amount, but I don't think that most people do. So it really is a choice of preference!

Soda pap is deadly. Aspartame is a neurotoxin (poison).
The acid will wash the enamel off your teeth and dissolve your bones. Not to mention the sugar making one fat and liable to develop diabetes, and depleting the vitamins in your system.

both are ok in moderation, diet is bad for you if you are pregnant though, so for women its better just not to get addicted to the taste of diet so you dont have to give it up

As far as taste goes it depends on your taste buds, but regular coke is better for you,but now they make coke zero it is made with splenda so it has 0 calories and same great taste if you want to drink soda in a healthy way

well soda isn't good for you to begin with.. it depletes your bones of calcium, and it ruins your teeth. if a woman has only a few cans of soda a week (either normal or diet), she'll have less bone density in her hips.

but to answer your question.. i guess the normal stuff is better for you, especially if you don't drink a lot of soda to begin with. even though diet coke has no calories it makes you crave sweets because your body thinks it's getting calories when it's not.

stick with diet

waters da best

I think Diet Coke is better for you. It really depends on how much you drink. If you only drink a little bit, neither will hurt you.

Diet Coke

Diet, I can not drink regular, there is something in it that my tongue does not like

PS the tongue is resposable for feeling the taste

As a diabetic and a Caffeine free Diet Coke Addict, I have to say Diet Coke or actually Caffeine free Diet Coke is the least harmful.

The amount of sugar in regular coke is a big contributor in obesity, heart disease and diabetes.

I will never for get a demonstration that I saw several years ago at a state fair.

Take a can of Coke and a can of Diet Coke and immerse them in a large container of water up side down (due to the concave bottom) The Coke will sink to the bottom because of all of the sugar while the Diet Coke will float.

Recently my father had an appointment with a doctor (some sort of specialist) he was told to avoid diet colas as well as the artificial sweeteners which he referred to as the "pinks and blues" (Sweet-n-low & Equel) I assume splenda is "OK" if you can afford it.

This doctor said this could be read about at the FDA website.

This question is similar to asking a person which way they would like to die, which is the lesser of two evils?

Coke is worse. On average, one can of soda has enough sugar to fill 27 sugar packets.

Diet Soda doesn't have this.
