How do you make strong coffee that isn't bitter?!

Question:

How do you make strong coffee that isn't bitter?

30 years ago, while on vacation, we had a nice, strong cup of coffee in Europe which was robust, but not bitter. Today, in the US, all we can find is bitter coffee. I yearn for a great cup of strong coffee without the bitterness that today's coffee has. Was it the quality of the coffee or the brewing style?

Answers:
Grind your coffee Really coarse (chunky) and use more of it
And use good cofee beans french roast or a dark roast

hazulnut coffee beans

what you can try is to put the shell of an egg in the water, this makes it less bitter.

also very important when you coffeebeans tast bitter if the powder became to warm during grinding. If you grind them yourself do it manually then they cant get warm, that is not with an electrical device

I do not know if it the brewing or the coffee. I do know that if you add a pinch of salt in with your coffee before brewing it takes the bitterness down some.

I use salt. A sprinkle will do. It works great.

Try a cappaccinio

A friend told me to add salt to the coffee in the filter to keep out bitterness,I haven't tried it...maybe it works?

different regions produce different coffee beans.
also, try pairing your cup o' joe with a different pastry

My Sister's ex Mother in law would put a pinch of salt in the pot when brewing said it would take away any bitterness
