by the way im a non smoker....sorry ex smoker....but hate the way the government is telling us how we should live our lives stop being sensible you'll get a violation.
If it was my pub shouldn't i have the right to let people smoke if they wanted ? i totally agree with u......... why don't u do some kind of petition??.......xxx you would think wouldn't you? it used to be you had a smoking bar and a non smoking bar, same as on trains a smoking carriage and non smoking... why the heck they couldnt just leave things as they were ..... They are still smoking,in frankies bar in blackpool. I would love to address this! I would like to know what happened to us making our own choices? If I don't want to work where smoke is then don't apply!! If I don't want to drink or eat where smoke is then don't go in!!! We really need to protect our liberties because it is out of hand! By the way ( I don't smoke) just hate to be told what to do or how to do especially by gov. I want to make my own choices. Don't you? Made to pay taxes is enough for me.... and we thought we lived in a FREE country and the government was supposed to represent US - cobblers - we are now living in a nanny state!! thats the most sensible answer and solution ive read on the subject, and ive read a few, star from me buddy. You hit the nail on the head there. Yes! Great point.
We should have a choice if we want. Next the Government will be trying to tell us when and where we can go for a dump or how to take a leak.
It's up to us what we want to do with our lives. Well I don't think that us non smokers have "had the option to live our lives the way we wanted" to prior to the ban. Yes I did want to go in some places, and did go in, but found it unpleasant to sit in suffocating smoke. Its not a case of being told how to live, just giving everyone the oppourtunity of being smoke free. You can still smoke for gods sake, they haven't banned that, just not all over me. i agree with you i live in Brighton and there's probably a pub for every day of the year, landlords should be able to put in for a smoking licence as a way to preserve there livelihoods è?? I understand the point you are making, but the situation you describe could have applied before the ban came in. Who decides which pubs will be 'smoking' and which will be 'non-smoking'? In reality, they all ended up tolerating smoking (and maybe having a token non-smoking area), so it dosen't work.
Agree with the ban or not, I think it is part of a drive to make people quit smoking by making it socially unacceptable. The reason people start smoking is because they feel it makes them more socially acceptable amongst their peer group, so I suppose the Government has decided to tackle this at source.
