Is it possible to make tea out of tobacco?!

Question:

Is it possible to make tea out of tobacco?

I don't smoke, so forgive my ignorance...

I got thinking that since tobacco is a kind of leaf, and you can buy the stuff to roll your own cigarettes, surely you could put it into a cup of hot water to make a tea?

So, why don't people do this? Does the tea taste awful, or does the nicotine just not absorb into the water?

Surely, made into a tea, it can't be more horrible to taste than smoking it or chewing it?

Surely, made into a tea, it can't be more horrible to taste than smoking it or chewing it? You probably can. I know that in the 60s, people used to brew weed and drink it. I guess if you could make brownies out of marijuana, you could make tea out of tobacco. I suppose it would be possible, but I can't imagine it would be anything other then horrible. If you made tea from tobacco leaves that you grew yourself it would still probably taste rancid and I wouldnt advise it. Manufacturers add soooo many things to their tobacco that store bought smokes scare me, so I think we would be better of growing our own anyway at least that way we know what is in it,so if you are really really curious and are old enough grow some and try the tea thing and let us know how it turns out :) Who knows you may be on to somethin, then again maybe not,lol...~~~~shrugs. oh yuck.sounds horrible! Good question. I hope you get some sensible answers! u can make a decoction of tobaco leaves (the one present in cigarettes)
it dosent give the same pleasure smoking does.
imagine ur self smoking coffee and drinking tobacco. wierd isnt it.
