Does coffee really stay fresher in the freezer?!

Question:

Does coffee really stay fresher in the freezer?

Answers: It can, but it only extends the freshness of the coffee by at most a month. If you want to extend the freshness store the coffee in a opaque air tight container out of the direct sunlight. Have a great cup of coffee:) Source(s):
Barista Yes- we keep ours in the freezer and it defnitely works. Yep, definitely. Something else that helps is buying whole coffee beans instead of the already ground kind. Keeping the beans in the freezer and then just grinding the amount you need each morning makes the freshest coffee. Plus, coffee grinders are getting less and less expensive - you can get a decent one for around 20 bucks and if youre a big coffee drinker its definitely worth it! if you're talking about the beans...they should ALWAYS stay at room temp. Putting them in the freezer will dry the beans out incredibly. You can tell this when the beans are no longer oily and shiny. They become very dull when put in a cold environment, therefore losing their rich flavor and leaving behind a bland and sometimes bitter taste. does any one ? read the directions . It effects the taste and some people like it so its up to you.I use a coffee vac to remove the air and keep in greasiness. of course..most things do In theory, yes, ground coffee will stay fresher in the freezer. However, when you bring the cold coffee out of the freezer, condensation forms and then you place it back it the freezer. After a while this can zap the freshness right out of the coffee. The best way is to keep it in a cool dry place, tightly sealed. yes yes it does!!!! just keep it in the originally container and put in your freezer and your good to go! It'll keep fresh in the freezer for a full year! Brewed coffee has the same properties as brewed tea. It will stay fresh if you take it off the coffee maker and put it in the refrigerator. When coffee sits on the coffee maker, it continues to heat and the heat breaks it down and causes it to burn.
So to answer your question, yes it will stay fresher in the freezer, but why? The real solution is to just turn off the coffee pot and not let it continue to heat and cook throughout the day. The best ways to keep coffee fresh as long as possible.
1. Always buy whole bean and grind it yourself. Whole beans don't dry out as fast as ground coffee, and retain the flavor better.
2. Store in an opaque air tight container at room temperature. Most beans come in a bag, and that doesn't keep air out, so get a vacuum seal canister to store beans in.
3. Buy locally roasted coffee! the fresher the coffee is when you buy it, the longer it will stay fresh. I work for starbucks and they make me go crazy with what i have to know about coffee. freezing ground coffee doesn't really do much. it may stay a little fresher in the freezer but not to much longer. The best way to keep the flavor and freshness is dont let air get to the coffee. Our starbucks coffee comes in air-tight sealed bags right till we brew it. I forget exactly what it does but air is the worst thing for ground or whole bean coffee. freezing whole bean coffee will eventually destroy the coffee also from taking it in and out of the freezer to make it will cause condensation in the bag and that leads to more air touching the coffee beans.
Hope this answered your question. Yes!
I also store it in the fridge and it seems to have a better taste then having it stored at room temp.
