Has anyone tried the drink, Malta?!

Question:

Has anyone tried the drink, Malta?

Malta is a drink originally found in Puerto Rico. I was wondering if anyone here has ever tried it, and if they would answer me to how does it taste to them and if they like it. Myself, i drink it and enjoy it.

Answers: I am puerto-rican, and I grew up drinking malta, and i LOVE IT!!!

Its an acquired taste, however, as non-hispanic people do not care for it To me it has a similar taste to cocoa cola but it is much more enjoyable. I am also Puerto Rican and love the drink but if I consume to much a thick spit is made in the back of my mouth. i have had malta mixed with ice and carnation milk. i love it. when mixed right, it tastes creamy with a hint of fizz. you can adjust the taste by the amount of carnation milk you put in. malta by itself is kinda like a flat soda and i can drink it like that but i prefer it mixed with the carnation milk.

p.s. statenislanddreamer, i am not peurto rican but i like malta. i think it's a carribbean thing cuz i am from haiti no, it is originally found in Venezuela, where there are many brands its non alcoholic malt beverage I'm not hispanic, but my husband's Puerto Rican. He got me to try it. And I don't like it at all. It's very sweet. Kinda tastes like root beer to me which I don't like either. I am west African from sierra leone and we drink malta all the time....it's not just a hispanic thing I believe many non-americans drink it because my cousins in london enjoy it as well. True it does have an acquired taste very bitter at first. Malta India tastes better than Malta Goya to me in this country though! Yes, malta is pretty good, you do have to get used to it though, im puerto rican also but i grew up in the states so i didnt drink it much but its ok. I'm Panamanian and i grew up drinking it in New York and it's wonderful i would take that over any alcoholic drink ya know especially when it's cold it's wonderful i love it it taste so good, i am dominican I love it especially the ones from Puerto Rico.
