How to brew kapeng barako?
kapeng barako is a pinoy made coffee. can someone please tell me how to brew/make one? i mean do i brew it like the usual ordinary coffee?
Answers: The best coffee brewing method for me is the French Press. This is done using a cafeterie. A good cup will consist of around 2 tablespoons of coffee and 6 - 8oz boiled water at around 95-98C degrees. To achieve, this, let your newly boiled water chill for a moment. Since the boiling point is 100C, if you leave it for a second or two, it'll settle down to around 95-98C, which is perfect. Put in your coffee beans, pour the water, put your plunger on, wait for a while, then slowly press the plunger down the cafeterie. Yes, you can sweetened it with honey or brown sugar, 'coz an ordinary white refined sugar will not bring out the taste. (that's my opinion).
You can also use an espresso machine since Kapeng Barako is used in cappucino. An espresso is coffee prepared by QUICKLY forcing hot water through darkly roasted, finely ground coffee beans. Take note that unlike the French Press or the drip method, espresso uses steam or a pump to quicky force water through the beans. Since the time of your coffee beans' contact with water is brief, fine ground coffee should be used to fully extract its good flavors. Also, for espresso coffees, espresso coffee beans should be used. These beans are roasted extra hot so they are darker than your ordinary coffee bean. With a good espresso machine, you can also make a capuccino. A capuccino is actually 2/3 coffee and 1/3 milk. On some parts, its 1/2 coffee and 1/2 milk and in some cases 1/3 coffee , 2/3 milk. First, make a 2 oz espresso, then aerate the milk using the machine. Then add the milk to the espresso. It should not be the other way around so that the milk and foam is on top where you then add sugar and stir it up. Kapeng Barako is prepared by brewing using a drip brewing device (machine or manual), french press, or simply putting hot water into grounds and filtered using a cloth. Barako is best sweetened by honey and brown sugar. Barako can be used to make espresso and other espresso-based drinks.
