Why are 1 liter bottle sodas $1.25 in vending machines and they are cheaper at the convenience store?
I remember when 1 liter bottles of coke were 75 cents in vending machines.
Makes you think why have vending machines when you can get a better bargain at a convenience store?
Answers: Convenience stores don't have to maintain a vending machine.
It costs more at a vending machine because the company who ownsthe vending machine needs a profit too. It's just how the business world goes.
The cheapest way to get a soda is to buy one at the Coke plant in Atlanta.
They have vending machines because some people are too lazy to go to the convenience store to buy one. They are at a rest area or workplace and want a coke. No Convenience stores around to supply one for them so the vending machine is the only resort. You're paying for the convenience of a soda machine. The company has to pay for the electricity to run the machine, so naturally it will cost slightly more for the product. Because some people are silly enough pay for it. Apparently!
. Simply put, it's supply and demand. You have to pay for the upkeep, running costs, the constant refilling and convenience.
