Question:

A non-alcoholic recipe in a book calls for Ginger Beer?

Could it be a typo and mean Ginger Ale? I don't know much about Ginger Beer.

It's supposed to be non alcoholic for a minor's party. I'm making mocktails.

Thanks, Sarge. Wikipedia says it's alcoholic, so I was confused.

Answers:

Ginger beer is a common Caribbean drink, similar to ginger ale, but it carries a much more pronounced taste than ginger ale does. Contrary to the sound of the drink, it is non-alcoholic, and it is rather tasty, and the taste of the ginger is a bit strong and a hit spicy, but not overwhelmingly so.

Check your local market, or an area Caribbean shop to find some ginger beer.
