How bad is rust on Carbonated Soft drink bottle covers? What adverse effects?!

Question:

How bad is rust on Carbonated Soft drink bottle covers? What adverse effects?

Can anyone enlighten me on the exact negatives? If a child drinks straight from the soda bottle without, for instance, wiping the rust marks off? What could happen?

Answers:

If you have a bottle of soda with rust under the cover, you should get rid of it, not drink it.

If you have food poisoning, it usually manifests within 4 hours of ingesting the contaminated product.

If you are in doubt, contact your doctor or local emergency room.
