Why doesn't tea wake me up anymore?!

Question:

Why doesn't tea wake me up anymore?

I drink lots of tea but it doesn't wake me up anymore. At least not the same way that coffee does. Is there something wrong?

Answers:

One of three reasons.

1. Your tea is naturally decaffeinated, i.e herbal teas or the decaf versions of black/orange teas.

2. You've developed a tolerance to caffeine from consuming foods, drinks or candy that contain it. So, caffeine no longer produces the same stimulant effect it used to, and takes more to produce the same effect.

3. You've recently been drinking coffee, then suddenly switched to tea, which (usually) has much less natural caffeine, so it doesn't produce as strong a stimulant effect.
