Why does Pop/Soda burn your nose after you drink it?!

Question:

Why does Pop/Soda burn your nose after you drink it?

Anyone? Especially....A&W's Rootbeer... :)

Answers:

Carbonation or carbon dioxide gas gives the soda bubbles. When you drink the soda, and especially if a large bubble in your stomach becomes a burp....the CO2 goes up your nose. The CO2 then dissolves in water becoming carbonic acid which stings.

I think it is kind of fun. Another thing to try, if you have soda in your mouth, trap a bit between the tongue and roof of your mouth. It causes a little burn too!
