Caffine addiction?!

Question:

Caffine addiction?

i think i'm addicted to caffine, i usaly drink about 4-6 cans of pop a day or i can't function well, is to much bad for you?

Answers:

4-6 cans of pop is a relatively small amount of caffeine really. I've known people that drank a 12 pack a day. If it's regular pop, the sugar is also an addictive substance. Caffeine for some people is more of a problem; they get jittery and racing heart with just a cup of hot chocolate and can't sleep if they have any caffeine after about noon. As much as I really dig a good caffeine "high" as it makes me feel like I can kick the world's butt, I would always come crashing down. I always drank diet pop and went off completely a few times, thinking the caffeine was giving me headaches. After a very severe (did I say very? VERY!) withdrawal headache where it seemed my brain didn't fit in my skull any more, I finally got off of it. (Yeah, I said a few times...)(I'm very glad I never started smoking...) I found I can fall asleep easier at night (duh.) but also, I could wake up easier in the morning. I'm not a morning person, so to say it is easier to wake up is something. And I would have much fewer headaches while not drinking pop. More recently, with the advent of Splenda, I decided I just couldn't drink one more artificial sweetener; I've been through cyclamates, saccharin, aspartame and now Splenda? Just couldn't. So even though I am not caffeine-free, I get my caffeine from tea and I use stevia as my sweetener now. I definitely think I feel better without the pop; less headaches. There really isn't that much caffeine in tea, especially how weak I make it! I drink more water too now.

A good rule I've heard is for every can of pop you drink, drink a glass (or bottle) of water. That way you get more water, and you might drink less pop, which will always be a good thing.

Good luck.

P.S. We both called it "pop", so we must both be from the midwest... I'm from Ohio. : )
