Froth on tea?!

Question:

Froth on tea?

When I make single bags of tea using the Republic of Tea (flavor Blackberry Sage) I end up with a kind of frothy white top on my tea. What is this? Is it from the tea bag or the tea itself? Am I doing something wrong?

When in a hurry, I often just microwave the whole cup, including the tea bag (no staples in the tea bag or other metal, so as far as I can tell this should be safe), but I get this same problem when I take the time to boil the water on the stove, too...

i searched tea "foam" and got a few more thoughts on the subject (thanks to the first person's wording)...

i've noticed though that all my tea gets a little foam sometimes, but my republic of tea is worse?

i definitely get more of this foam/froth when i microwave it than when i just boil and then dunk the tea bag for few minutes, but i do still get it either way.

it basically looks like a thin layer of little bubbles, and they are whitish compared to the tea (black tea). so they are quite visible floating on top. as i drink they tend to gravitate to the side of the mug so there can even be a film left on the side of the mug after i drink the liquid.

i feel like it must come from the tea bag, but republic of tea is supposed to be good tea (certainly isn't cheap!) so i still feel like it shouldnt' be harmful...but it is just weird! and not exactly the most appetizing thing to look at, because it befuddles me!

Answers:

its normal to get a little bit of foam on your tea its usually whitish with some brown from the tea it self and its normal wont hurt you just kinda happens
