In my opinion bags don't spoil the tea. I come from the south where we thrive on our sweet tea. I always use the tea in bags no matter what. I've found that what ruins a good gallon of tea or even a pot of tea is not scrubbing the pot you make it in. Old tea can settle on the edges and corners and turn your fresh tea very rancid.
