Bottled and filtered water is hype?!

Question:

Bottled and filtered water is hype?

Of the many Answers I've read, most people are saying that water shouldn't filtered too much or that bottled water is no better than tap water. How can people answer that question without knowing the quality of the water? My city drinking water is ranked 30th worst on a list of over 400 cities in FL. How can someone say filtering my drinking water or bottled water is just the same as my tap water? I hope someone can renew my faith in Yahoo Answers. I've been researching water filtration systems. If you know of a good one, pls let me know why. ..check out your pollution at scorecard.org

I guess you're right about it depending on where you live and the track record of the water purification plants in your area. I don't know if bottled water is regulated in the States, but I don't believe that it is anywhere in Canada (where I live). If you're cleaning your own water (by distilling it for example) then I think you'd be OK. Water treatment plants put the water through many filtration stages, they chlorinate it and ozonate it. Many bottled water companies claim the same thing, ie. what they are selling is no better than tap water. I personally drink tap water all the time . . .
