Is it worth it to filter your tap water?!

Question:

Is it worth it to filter your tap water?

I drink tap water, so I was thinking of getting one of those water filter jugs. You pour the tap water into it and put it in the fridge. The water percolates through the filter. If my municipal water isn't particularly bad, what is the benefit?

Answers:

Most public water systems are already filtered and treated for you. Some of them still have a funky taste though due to pipes, chemicals, or other outside influences. If you think that your tap water tastes funky, then a filter might do the trick. Though a water filter may not be necessary, it could provide a peace of mind knowing that your water is filtered at least twice :-)

Just remember that you will have to constantly buy filters every few months, so work that into your budget if it is something you are going to do.

Hope this helps!
