Does milk really help you with strong bones?!

Question:

Does milk really help you with strong bones?

Answers:

Milk contains minerals that are needed for the bones, such as calcium and phosphorus. However people are of the opinion that the milkfat is harmful. It is not, if the diet is planned with the total fat intake in mind. Skim milk lacks the vitamin D necessary for absorption of the calcium into the body. Even the fortified skim milk contains artificial vitamin D and that is not absorbed without the presence of fat. It is better to drink a lowfat or whole milk rather than nonfat if you want to strengthen the bones. Children should have whole fat milk. to insure they are getting the minerals and vitamin A and D from the milk. You cannot efficiently use the calcium from the milk if you do not eat vegetables and fruits containing magnesium . The body needs half as much magnesium as it does calcium. Dark green leafy cooked vegetables such as spinach and kale are high in magnesium. and are also good sources of iron and copper for the blood. To ensure a healthy body it is necessary to have a wide variety of nutitious foods.

Dairy foods are a convenient and nutritous source of many nutrients, but if you have allergies to dairy it is possible to get the nutrients from other sources, and one should study out nutrition charts when planning meals.
