Can caffeine actually make you sleepy?!

Question:

Can caffeine actually make you sleepy?

It seems sometimes I have the opposite effect, and get sleepy after having caffiene. Do all people react the same to the stimulant, or do some have different reactions?

Answers: I think so. Whenever I'm having problems getting to sleep I drink a cup of coffee. It does give me a little energy burst at first, but about an hour later I "crash" & it's just enough to help me fall asleep. Sometimes it does not make me sleepy, after it start wearing off it makes me sleepy Different people have different reactions. It makes me sleepy too. I can drink an espresso right before bed and sleep like a baby! :)

Hope this helps. What are you drinking that has caffeine in it? If you are drinking a fully leaded (not diet) cola, it may be the sugar in the cola that is making you sleepy, especially if you are prone to blood sugar imbalances. It does the same to me, but then, Benadryl makes me more hyper! (I have ADHD). yes, for most it keeps them awake, for some it puts them to sleep and others it has no effect at all, it depends on the person that's not sleepy that's tired.

stimulants are hell for making people tired. Too much caffeine can make you sleepy indeed. Caffeine works wonders for elderly people who can't sleep.. I work in a nursing home. during the caffeine is working you get hyped up...but when it is all gone....you begin to lose consciousness and get sleepy
