Do you remember having to open a pop can with an opener?
When i was a kid, you would need a hand held can opener and you would use it to punch a hole in the pop can.
Answers: Yes! They were called "church keys". Source(s):
longtimer ; ) *whispers* Your age is showing! (I'll never admit that I remember that!) I can barely remember that. What is more clear in my memory are the first cans with the ring that you would pull on and you'd end up with a little sliver of (nearly) razor sharp steel that people would toss on the ground and little kids would cut their feet on.
I wonder why the can designers couldn't see that coming? I remember using a bottle opener and my mom bought the recycle big 6 pack coke bottles. i remember that but we called it a different name, can't remember what it was call though. I vaugely remember my grandfather opening beer that way, pop usually came in bottles. When it went to a can they had the pull rings on them. but coke never made a can that didnt have its own opener. Large cans like hawaiian punch or ther juices required an opener. But pop never came in cans with out an opener Yes I do. And I remember bottles that had to be opened with a bottle opener. (No screw off caps!) my grandparents bought a brand of pop called Holiday. The can was white with colored dots. Like strawberry had red dots. Orange had orange dots. There was a special think you had to open the can with. Do not know the name. Yes. And I remember bottled pop that you had to open with a bottle opener and when the bottle was empty you took it back to the store and got 5 cents for it.
