What's the easiest and most painless way to get un-addicted to caffeinated beverages?!

Question:

What's the easiest and most painless way to get un-addicted to caffeinated beverages?

I was reading another question on here about someone who can't get through their day without coffee. People were saying that if you quit you will notice a big difference in your metabolism plus other benefits. I am a loyal Mountain Dew drinker and have to have it every morning or else I don't feel right. I know I am addicted to the caffeine and I can't imagine ever being able to successfully quit. My question is, how do you make it through the withdrawal period and suffer through those headaches in order to get un-addicted to caffeine?

Answers: Probably to taper off first say you drink four, then three then two then one, then none a day. If you go cold turkey you'll probably end up failing. It's go to replace them with non-caffeinated drinks since your body is also craving the sweetness/sugar also. Then you might be able to switch to sparkling waters eventually. The best way would be to taper off. Drink less and less every day for a two to three week period before you stop all together. I quit caffiene cold turkey ( i drank about a 2 litter a day) and i had bad headaches for about 2 weeks. But after that i was fine. I now have caffiene occasionaly and find that is has a much harsher effect on me than it used to. (i was off it completely for a year) i would cut down on the caffeine. for your situation with the MD, i would mix decaffinated MD with regular MD..... start off with mayb 25% decaffinated and 75% regular.... keep doing that for a few weeks... then, change the percentage to 50% / 50%...keep lowering the amount of caffeine every few weeks to gradually get away from it. eventually, you will be able to handle less and less caffeine and then you can switch totally to decafinated and you wont be addicted anymore. The only thing is that you have to be willing to make the change and be on top of it to achieve success Quit buying it When YOU decide that YOU don't want to be manipulated by drugs then YOU will find the strength to stop drinking the mountain due.

When YOU get mad enough at the pepsi company for putting a product out there that makes you addicted then YOU will stop.

When YOU finally realize that life is not easy, that discomfort is part of life and YOU don' t want to be always trying to find a fix to make things more comfortable. Then YOU will just stop.

Healthy eating, physical exercise, 8 hours sleep and changing your morning ritual will help you adjust. I too was a hard-core Mt. Dew drinker for years. I finally decided I didn't need all the sugar and caffeine. I switched to club soda and lime. All the fizz, none of the sugar and caffeine. And oddly enough, I didn't get the withdrawal. Maybe my brain was thinking "Fizz! Must be caffeine!" For my occasional treat I drink iced tea with lemon. I know there's a little caffeine, but not as much as Mt. Dew. And it's healthy anyway.

Good luck! I was not aware that Mountain Dew contained any Caffeine ---
at least any appreiable amount---but

I was a heavy coffee drinker and had to quit because
unlike today when they say bleeding Ulcers are caused
by Ecoli-Bacteria--I was told by doctors to lower my
Caffeine level---which I did by using the 50/50 blends
made by Maxwell Housee---and after a month or so
of that with no headaches---I began to use Decaffeinated
Coffees---some of them are almost as tasty as regular
I found ---you might try them---

You might try blending 50/50 with Mountain Dew with
some other lemony drink---but I don't know which---
and Iced Tea with Lemon which I drink all day might
help ! Well for me, it was when I got pregnant for the first time over 14 years ago. I feel much better without all that caffeine. I am not completely off it, I will occasionally have some coke( not a whole one) or some chocolate, but in moderation. Wean yourself gradually! Good Luck! you could go cold turkey and put an electric shock collar on your neck that zaps the piss out of you if you drink it,so you don't get a painful electrocution if you quit Cold turkey is the best way...
there is some pain involved while you have headaches from caffeine withdrawal, but it is worth it.
During my pregnancies I went caffeine free and felt great. I still don't drink caffeine daily.
