Question:

How can I keep chopped alvacado fresh in the refrigerator without using lemon?

Is there anything I can put on it instead of lemon juice?

Answers: Simply, you cant, the tricks like lemin, vinegar and the pit will all help a little but really you should plan on eating it when you cut it. for pureed or mashed you can cover it with plastic in direct contact with the avocado so there is NO air between and it will help some Avocados discolor due to oxidation; you could cover it with plastic wrap which will slow down the process.

You could also use vinegar or any other acidic juice, like orange or lime.

" A cut avocado, like a sliced peach or banana, will
darken and discolor when exposed to air. Sprinkling the
exposed surfaces with fresh lemon or lime juice will retard
this discoloration. Try to use a cut avocado as soon as
possible. In the interim, cover the exposed surfaces
with plastic film. If you cut the avocado in half, don't
remove the pit until ready to serve. " Use the vaccume thing for the food they sale on TV it really works... They also sale it on TV. Trust me it does work and last longer There is a product called Fruit Fresh you can use. Place the avacodo pit in the bowl with the chopped avacodos other than using lemon, lime, orange (any citrus food) or vinegar it will turn black. we use vinegar or lime juice Wrap it in cellophane...or a Ziploc bag....but squeeze all the air out...it's the air that causes the avocado to oxidize. Keeping the air away will keep it from turning black......good luck
