Answers: The reason being is that it was thought that too much aspartame could cause seizures in people... I have to agree of flavor though.. It's gross.. Aspartame tastes like poo, I hate that stuff and it seems to be in everything. Gum, diet drinks. Yuck! Yeppers. And there are many studies that show it can cause symptoms that mimic MS in people. it does cause seizures in some people that are sensitive to it.
And it is still being used in some foods as a sweetener.
