Can someone out there tell me if the energy drink Red Bull is bad for you and can kill you ?
For a while now, I have been drinking alot of Red Bull. I love the way it tastes and the energy it gives me . Everytime I walk into 7-11, I usually grab a Red Bull. I looked at the ingredients and its loaded with cafein and sodioum . Any comments about this popular energry drink. Someone told me that people are going to die from it because of the cafein intake ? Is this true ?
Answers: energy drinks have high amount of sugar which raise your sugar level intensely and for time being you feel energized but this sudden level raising of sugar can harm your heart and it may also lead to diabetease. No, it's not going to kill you any more than any other beverage loaded with caffeine.
People with a sensitivity to caffeine should of course avoid it but healthy people will not suffer dangerous side effects from drinking it. caffeine is a drug (seriously) its a drug that is addictive and should not be taken in large amounts because of the bad affects on overworking the heart. Caffeine makes your heart beat extra fast and sometimes skip beats which is not good and sodium well its not good for your kidneys at all! Too much of anything is bad for you, even if it's a good thing. I definitely wouldn't put Red Bull on my list of stuff that is good for you.
Drinking it once in awhile should be okay though.
If you drink it everyday, the high sugar/caffeine content probably will lead to a psychological and physical addiction. If you stop drinking it, you will actually get withdrawal symptoms like headaches, irritability etc....
Will it kill you? I don't think you can overdose like you could on alcohol. In the long term, a diet high in caffeine/sugar will lead to health problems that could kill you. The time it takes will depend of course on the amount of daily consumption but we are talking about a period of years... unless you drink some crazy amount like 20 cans per day. If you aren't too sensitive to caffeine, you won't die if you only consume the recommended amount. The health benefits of the herbs are debatable.
I'm sticking with tea.
