Answers: You're right, it is a marketing ploy. In the UK we have Diet Coke and Coke Zero. After various polls and surveys, Coca Cola found that Diet Coke didn't appeal to men as it wasn't very 'macho'. They therefore introduced Coke Zero; a sugar free version for the male market. Source(s):
A relative who works for Coca Cola! i dont know because i never tried any of them before Coke Light or Diet Coke as it is called in the UK has its own taste where as Coke Zero mimics the taste of Coca-Cola. Both are sugar free Nothing. They both taste nasty. diet coke seems to be sweeter.
although coke zero is very similar. cocacola brought it out because men are stating to watch their weights too but dont want to order diet coke as its seen as a girls drink. this is why they've marketed coke zero towards guys(eg black,strong packaging, men in the adverts) Coke Light is the non-U.S. version of Diet Coke.
Coke Zero is something different.
They're just different recipe blends...
They do not taste the same, and have somewhat different ingredients. However, they are pretty similar.
