Question:

Who else besides me thinks it's ridiculous to pay $5 for a lousy cup a of coffee at Starbucks?

Sometimes i really believe people just to do it to look cool & be part of the in crowd. I for one think it's dumb to pay 5 or 6 dollars for a cup of coffee. Give me a Dunkin Donuts coffee any day over starbucks.Just my opinion & nothing against those who go & buy from Starbucks..

Answers: I'm a Dunkin Donuts coffee lover too..........I think you're right about the reason people do go the Starbucks route........For $5 I can make a meal and a decent one at that.........I can't help but wonder about the folks who drink several cups of coffee a day...........Do they waste $20-$30 on Starbucks coffee???............I'll bet they're the same ones that complain about taxes, inflation, insurance rates, etc...........CAT where i live its less then $2 for a cup of coffee.specialty coffees are anywhere from $2-4 .its really the average price anywhere if u go to a coffee shop.but its sooo good to spend money it i dont think its worth it but there frapachinos are good. Ha, ha, ha.....I think we all do! But for some reason it feels good to buy a cup. everyday - yes. Once in a while, I think it's ok. They do charge a lot, but people still buy it! I don;t drink coffee. Starbucks' coffee is sooooo harsh. Personally, I'm not paying $5.00 for a cup of coffee which I have to dump out half of to dilute with enough cream and sugar to make it palatable ... Never even been to a Starbucks but they are around here. I get my coffe at home or at seven eleven for about a buck. Five dollars...really? Do they have strippers? I agree with you 100 percent...it is ridiculous and I don't care for their coffee. I went a couple of times to see what the big deal was about. I'm with you, D.D. is best...and their Vanilla Chai's, too. For most of the year, yeah it's ridiculous. But I do admit I love those Eggnog lattes around the holidays. Only time I will go there. Otherwise, those 24 oz. cappucinos from the machine at the C-store costing 99 cents work fine for me. I agree...large coffee at Dunkin' Donuts costs me $1.75...and I think it's better than Starbucks. I do think it's silly to charge so much for some of their stuff. But if you're talking about a large cup of coffee like the poster above was Starbucks is only 1.80. You usually only get into the five dollar range when you go with large frappuccinos with additions. But yes, for other things other than brewed coffee, they're too expensive. On the bright side, you usually get great service and a nice place to hang out...And as far as huge international corporations go, they're really awesome. it's totally outrageous! i won't spend 5$ for a cup of coffee.here in the philippines, starbucks coffee costs 100 pesos and only those belonging to the elitist circle have the capacity to buy stuff like that.the price is equivalent to the cost of 20 cups of normally-priced coffee. it's not the product that you're buying, it's the name and the popularity of the brand. I do! I do! Not only is it expensive, their coffee gives me the WORST heartburn in the world of any food or drink. I don't know what it is, but I wouldn't buy a cup of coffee there again if they were giving it away free. Goofy Dunkin Doughnuts coffee is the best coffee around and a lot cheaper! It's nice to see there are other smart people who realize they are being taken! This is why McDonald's coffee (which is an improvement over its coffee in decades past) has been such a success. It's reasonably priced, tastes good and you can get good tasting, cheap food. Starbucks sandwichs are very expensive by comparison. I think that the attraction of Starbucks is the "ambience" and the decor that lends itself to meetings. I hear you, though. $5-6 is more than what I would spend for lunch! With coffee and McDonald's sundae. hurray for Dunkin's I love them too!!!!
I also think it is ridiculous to pay $5 or more to get a lousy cup of strong coffee just to say I drank at Starbucks.
Give me Dunkins Dounuts or no Coffee at all!!!!!! I don't drink starbucks everyday, but waking up on the go to a nice Double Chocolate chip frappachino sure sooths the spot. I personally refuse to pay more than 2 dollars for a plain cup of coffee and a $2.00 cup better be BIG! Yes!!!! Amen!!!! I agree!!!! And it's not even that good!
By the way, there is a squirrel sitting outside my window while I am answering this! dont think most ppl buy for the goodness of the coffee
guess they buy it as it is a standard brand for coffee rather than those in coffee shops

guess THEY think they will be more "high class"seen drinking tt den those nescafe

it might oso b that starbucks have lots of shops and its easy to get a cup A 'cup of coffee' at Starbucks is not $5. It's less than $2. Some people think that's still to much, but they use the best coffee beans taken from the best areas, so it costs more to harvest and ship. At Starbucks, you're paying for the experience. I like Dunkin Donuts, too, but the people at DD don't really care about their customers like Starbucks does....

I used to go to DD every week with friends after a morning class, b/c it was good, but we just went in, got our coffee and donuts and left...

I just started working at Starbucks, and we recognize people who come in regularly, know what they want and strike up conversations with them. It's just a better environment.
