Are energy drinks bad for you? See details?!


Question: I drink about three to four a week, usualy Full Throtle and never more than one in a day. I am 18 years old. If I were to continue this pattern, whats the worst that could happen? Actually what could happen if anything?

If your in good shape your body should be able to deal with the toxins(caffeine). If you drink to much the toxins might take effect. Any way, don't drink more than you need to. Don't drink it just for pleasure. I like them too but i have to restrain my self.
At your age it should be okay to drink that amount weekly.
I am not an expert on this nor am I a doctor but I would not suggest drinking these... my husband used to drink them all the time too and I finally made him at least start buying the 0 carb/sugar free kind. #1) they have TONS of sugar and just are not good for you... that much sugar is bad, it will make you gain weight, make you have pimples, etc... and #2) you will become dependant on them and then you'll be addicted and that is a hard habit to break. In my opinion, it's best to stick to pure water, tea, and fruit juices.
not sure.. but they;re extremely bad for yuo due to unexcessive amount of caffeine it has.. try to avoid :) good luck :D
I agree with the weight gain, but no more so than if you were drinking a large soda 3 to 4 times a week. These drinks aren't necessarily good for you because of the sugar, but unless you have a heart condition that makes you sensitive to caffeine, they aren't too bad for you.
i agree w these answerers..maybe u should just taper away from these drinks..it's better safe then sorry..at least get real rest to overide some of the immediate effects (like lethargic after a while..your body can only take so much boost.. )..just take some real rest or else u might end up like a spring wound up too tightly & when ur really tired u

though i think i should take my own advice, cuz i'm gettin at least 4 redbulls per day..not exactly everyday, just if i remember to buy them..have my own reasons, but it's not really for energy boosting..i still have my rest & such..

I only know of 1 energy drink that is good for you. It is called Innergize. You add one scoop to a glass of water. This is not addicting. It is about 70 calories per scoop. It taste good. My favorite is lemon. I am a diabetic and I have no problem whatsoever taking this.
too much caffeine very bad for your health because of the excessive suguar, but so is soda. just suggested not to drink it at all. but if you really like it try to limit yourself. BUT whatever you do DO NOT mix it with alcohol that can potentially kill you.
