Tax on bottled water?!
Answers: I live in Chicago, it seems we are about to get a .10 tax on bottled water. "supposbly"" it will help for the Olympics, if it comes to Chicago. I say forget it. Do you live in a city where you get taxed on bottled water?
No but it's an issue being talked about because water bottles are filling up landfills rather quickly because a lot of them are not being recycled. But I just realized they are talking about having a deposit fee in place for bottled water and you are talking about a tax.
Since I live in MA, I'm sure that we are taxed on bottled water, 5%. We usually don't get taxed on food but this might be the gray area where we would pay a tax.
I don't think it's a fair tax. I think the people that will benefit from hosting the Olympics ought to pony up some money. I don't think the people that live there are going to benefit that much. If the Olympics came to Boston then I would avoid Boston until it was over. If they came to where I live then I would be aggravated because it would be more difficult to get around as a result. I would be further aggravated if I had to help pay for it as well. Is the city of Chicago sure that they will be able to make enough money off of doing that?
For a tax, I like it because I just wouldn't buy bottled water. I would try the recommended solution to not buying bottle water, refrigerate tap water and place in a container with breathing room. It's supposed to improve the taste.
yep, along with CA CRV Fee.
If I could calculate how much I've spent on CRV (CA redemption Value) it would be thousands and thousands of dollars!!
In Nor Cal and there is no where to "redeem" this value anymore. And it's hardley worth all the hassel if you find a recycle center.
No not yet but if the goverment here get wind of it no doubt they'll implerment it in the next budget "november".
