i think in the 1600's or so
Cans of Coke first appeared in 1955
1950's
Aluminum??? I forget...
The cans in the 50's were steel.
the first metal cans were tin, and the phrase "tin can" is still used. Pepsi had the most memorable jingle sung on radio, but "12 full ounces, that's a lot" probably referred to the bottles, not the tin cans. "twice as much, for a nickel too" shows how long ago it was. But, "Pepsi-cola is the drink for you" still rings true.
