Why does my Gevalia coffeemaker not work properly??!
Answers: Its an 8 cup coffeemaker I got at a yard sale. It keeps turning itself off before its done brewing the 8 cups.
I know I had the same promblem,I finally just gave it away,I dont know it kept doing that.
Oh well time to spend money on a real coffee maker try a Kitchen-aid pro.
reduce to 4 cups
Most of the units that Gevalia give away do not work properly from the factory. That is to say that the units do not get the water hot enough to properly extract the full flavors of the coffee. The proper water temperature for best coffee flavor extraction is around 200 to 204 degrees Farh. Very few get to this temperature, so in an automatic drip unit 190 to 200 would be good.
I do not use an automatic machine for this reason. I boil my water in a stove top tea pot and pour the water over the coffee which is setting in a #4 cone filter over a pot.
