Hard tap water area - is it considered to be as safe to drink as soft water, or vice versa?!
Answers: When you see how the deposits build up on the taps and appliances,it makes you wonder what effect it has on the body! Does anyone have any views or information on this? And if you have had a softener installed, did you find it effective and in what way were you particularly affected by hard water?
hard water is only hard as it has dissolved minerals in it! that's the deposits u see! soft water still has the minerals in it just les lime!!!
if the water source is a community source then by regulation they add fluoride to maintain healthy teeth and chlorine to kill all harmful bacteria! it may not taste as nice but it is said to b safe. however they ar chemicals they can effect some people!
boiling the water does help!! it removes the temporary hardness and the chemicals after they have done their job. in my old house our way of softening water was a special salt! it made the water taste bad and look cloudy!
over all boiling it an cooling it in the fridge is the best way you will even find u can drink more water as it does not feel as heavy on the tummy! best of luck hope i could help.
From studying it in school, I know that soft water is actually worse for you, despite tasting much nicer, and making soap froth up more. Believe it or not, the calcium carbonate in hard water is necessary in our diet, as well as many other minerals that are not found in soft water. This lack of minerals can lead to heart problems, or so I'm told. =oD
Hard water is better for you because it gives you additional minerals and stuff that you don't get from soft water or your diet. I know it knackers your water heating appliances, but this can easily be reversed by using washing soda in your clothes washing machine, a magnetic dishwater ball, and regularly boiling up a bottle of vinegar in your kettle.
A water softener uses salt, a lot of which remains in the water, so if you use a water soften, for goodness sake DO NOT DRINK THE WATER, used bottled or tap water for drinking.
I've been drining hard water for 64 years and it doesn't seem to have harmed me.
Soft water is only good for cleaning and for heating appliances such as a water heater or a coffee pot. is VERY high in sodium so should not be used for drinking or cooking.

It depends on what the minerals are...some just affect the taste, but if the mineral is Fluorine, it can also affect your teeth.
hi this is blue, you dont have to worry, hard tap water is ok to drink
