What happened to 'Olde Tyme' ginger beer?!

Question: Gosh, it was GREAT. VERY spicy and delicious. Now it's gone. Does anyone know if it's available? Or where it's available? Or what happened to it? It was made in Jamaica, I'm pretty sure, and nothing tasted better than Olde Tyme when I was in the mood.

Old Jamaican Ginger Beer made by Desnoes & Geddes are available here http://reggaetreats.com/shopcart/product...

please note that is is not Ginger Ale and as such it has a harsher ginger taste, not a diluted taste. Very spicy indeed.

The only place I can ever find ginger beer is Canada. I don't know if it's the same brand that you're talking about, but it's delicious! Spicy and good!

It is still made, but you would have to find a specialty international market. The only place I have seen it is at "Jungle Jim's International Market" in Fairfield Ohio.

( http://www.junglejims.com ) I don't think they do internet ordering though.

This probably isn't much help to you unless you live somewhere in SE Ohio. But at least I can tell you that they still make it. I have never been to Trader Joe's, but they are a chain of international food stores; they also may carry it.

good luck

Dania C is right I buy it here in Canada, but we have a better one from a local Carribean food supplier, called "Mr Goudas", it is zippier and more pronounced, the "Old Cockeral" one from Canada Dry is more a soda.

I am partial to the Vernor's Ginger Soda, but if I am having a roti or Jamaican Pattie a ginger beer is a must.

Vernor's Ginger Ale was originally brewed in Detroit, Michigan on Woodward Avenue! I remember walking past the place as a child during the 1960's. In 1969, I moved out west to Alaska with my family! During the 1980s, I was very excited to see Vernor's Ginger Ale on the shelves of Carrs in Anchorage when I went there on family trips or sporting events! I did notice on the cans that Vernors was no longer brewed in Detroit. Now Carrs has bought out by Safeway. Soon all the American cars will be built in China and sent to America to be sold! Life is all about change!
