Is Bottled Water Adding to Environmental Waste and Global Warming?!

Question: Thirty seven billion bottles of water were sold in the United States in 2005, with the number growing yearly. Folks sip bottled water when every community provides water that is safe to drink, is tested frequently, and is carefully controlled by water departments.

Some studies have indicated that Bottled Water is no different than water from your tap, yet the Bottled Water craze continues. There is usually no deposit on the bottles used for water and many of them end up on the roadsides and littering empty lots. Manufacturing the bottles uses up energy, as does transporting the water, some of which is imported from countries like India....where water supplies are sometimes dubious, at best. Should Americans go back to tap water and forget about the bottled variety?

The growth of bottled water in these single serving sizes of 8-12 ounces is scary! More and more people are drinking water out of these bottles. All of those bottles...they are produced using oil. They are then thrown away and some get recycled. But even the recycled ones, much of the bottle can't be recycled completely.

Ya know, there are those of us out here (waving) who have a bottle or two but fill them from our taps, etc.....and take them along with us.
This isn't really anything new you're telling us, but there are many things hurting the environment and many people doing the right thing.

Tap water is fine. Bottles make a lot of trash - if you don't trust your tap then I say get a filter!

You get a reverse osmosis drinking water system and mount it under your sink. Buy a good non-disposable bottle and use it everyday.
